Just weeks after the release of the Cantankerous Cavalier, Kled, RioT is back to surprise us with another champion. Ivern a.k.a The Green Father was first teased in the video titled “Ivern: Friend of the Forest.” The video shows a group of sleeping pups about to be caught by a hunter when Ivern magically pops up and entangled the hunter in roots to protect the little ones.
With Ivern’s design and concept, many gamers noted his resemblance to Maokai and how this new champion might overlap with the latter. But before we start any speculation, let’s take a look at Ivern’s skill kit:
Passive: Friend of the Forest
As a friend of the forest, Ivern cannot attack or be attacked by jungle monsters. Instead, when targeting a jungle camp, Ivern creates a grove using his health and mana. As the grove matures over time, Ivern can select it to free the monsters, sending them away, granting him gold and XP. Smiting a camp with a grove will instantly send the monsters to safety. After level five, Ivern can do the same thing to the Red Brambleback and Blue Sentinel.
Q: Rootcaller
Ivern shoots a vine in the target direction and roots the first enemy it hits, dealing damage. Any ally who uses his basic attack on the rooted target will automatically dash to get within the attack range.
W: Brushmaker
Active: While in the brush, Ivern’s basic attacks gain bonus range and deal bonus magic damage.
Passive: Ivern creates a patch of brush, revealing the area around it for 3 seconds.
E: Triggerseed
Ivern puts a protective seed on his ally or Daisy, shielding it for 2 seconds. After the end of the shield’s duration, Triggerseed bursts and deal magic damage to all nearby enemies, and slows them by 70% for 3 seconds.
R: Daisy!
Ivern summons a controllable, enormous Sentinel called Daisy, who remains on the field for 60 seconds. Recast the ability to move Daisy to the target location.
